By sanctioning four medical colleges to the state of Jammu and Kashmir Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has set the cat among the pigeons triggering fresh claims for at least 10 more Medical colleges in the state.
On Monday the state assembly witnessed large number of legislators staking their claim for setting up new medical college in their areas saying they have been demanding the same for a long time but their demands have been ignored by the Union govt while announcing four medical colleges for the state.
Later when the state assembly adopted a unanimous resolution expressing its gratitude to Union Health Minister for establishing four medical colleges and two cancer hospitals in the state the house also impressed upon the central govt to establish 10 more medical colleges in the state.
The House impresses upon the Central Government to establish Medical Colleges at Poonch-Rajouri, Kupwara, Udhampur, Kulgam, Budgam, Bandipora, Leh/ Kargil, Samba and Pulwama Districts, the resolution moved by National Conference MLA Ajaz Ahmed Jan and seconded by PDP MLA A. R.Veeri stated.
It remains to be seen how the central govt responds to the demand of the J&K legislators in the coming days as they have locked themselves in a bitter fight.
