  In a shocking incident, Thursday, Minister of State for Home Affairs Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo  slapped senior government officer at Tourist Receipt Centre (TRC) Kishtwar ahead of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s visit to the area. Handicrafts Dept. distributed 4.04 cr stipend to trainees; got vanished, no jobs created: CAG

The latest CAG report has revealed that the Handicrafts department distributed a stipend of more than 4 crore to over 14000 trainees but they vanished soon after defeating the sole purpose of creating jobs for the unemployed youth between 2007-2012 in the state. According to the CAG report, “between 2007-12 over 14000 youth were enrolled from eight districts of the state for receiving training but they left the training half way and did not adopt craft as a profession after receiving stipend amounting to Rs 4.04 crore”. Tech savvy Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has failed to kick start the gigantic task of computerization of land records despite  having money in his kitty.The recent CAG report tabled in the state assembly has revealed that even after receiving liberal funding  to the tune of Rs 20.56 crore from the central government  for setting up computer centres for computerization of land records in 257 Niabats (Sub Tehsils) of the state the government has failed to implement the scheme. Monkeys living life King Size on Jammu Kashmir National Highway

Monkeys are living life ‘king size’ on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway eating what ever they can straight out of the hands of passing by pilgrims heading towards the holy cave shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi.   Pilgrims, traveling in their private vehicles and those on board public transport buses normally offer bread, banana and other eatable items including Gur (jaggery) and ‘channa’ (roasted chickpea) to the simian population.   Even though the monkeys get to eat alot but there is an element of risk involved too.
