J&K will witness surprising results in Assembly polls
Amid reports that the BJP may soften its stand on scrapping Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, the party today said it has not left the core issue “which is related to its heart” but BJP is going to Assembly polls on local issues of development and corruption.
“The issue (Article 370) is related to our heart. We have not left or sidelined any issue. Article 370 is an issue which is important for the whole nation and not only for J&K, but our focus is to provide a Government which is corruption free, nepotism free and development oriented,” BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain told reporters.
Mr Hussain said the State will witness “surprising results” in the Assembly polls.
“There is an unprecedented excitement among the people. The people want to join Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the path of development,” he said, adding that the BJP will get a majority in Jharkhand also.
Jammu and Kashmir along with Jharkhand will go to Assembly polls in five phases between November 25 and December 20.
Counting of votes will take place on December 23. Mr Hussain also slammed Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for his reported comments that his country will talk with Kashmiri leaders before initiating any dialogue with India.
“Kashmir is an integral part of India, there can’t be any discussion on this, we have made it clear about our stand many times,” the BJP spokesperson added. (AGENCIES)
