An Indian army jawan was martyred along the line of control in Pallanwala sector of Akhnoor in Jammu on Tuesday morning after a group of terrorists targeted them at least 700 metre inside the Indian territory.
The possibility that the terrorists could be belonging to the Border Action Team of Pak army can not be completely ruled out as they executed the operation in a very clinical fashion without facing any resistance.
The Spokesman of the Ministry of Defence in Jammu however scaled down the nature of the strike and claimed around 0900 a.m terrorists opened fire on two jawans of the Army today morning in Pallanwala sector at a location approximately 700 metres on own side of Line of Control in Sunderbani division. One Jawan, Naik Mongchon B of Naga Regiment received gunshot wound and later succumbed to his injuries”.
Meanwhile, after the attack took place the Indian army launched search and combing operation in the area and alerted the troops in the area to prevent any infiltration bid.
Meanwhile, in view of the prevailing situation along the International border and along the line of control the security grid has been beefed up further to prevent any terrorist strike. The general public has been asked to maintain extra caution in the border areas on the movement of the suspected persons while hte village defence committees have been activated to assist the ground forces to maintain round the clock vigil in the border areas.
