817 licensed weapons deposited: Rajendra

To ensure incident free and smooth conduct of the Lok Sabha polls the law enforcing agencies  have started working on the ground zero.

During a high level meeting chaired by Chief Electoral Officer Umang Narula the Special DGP K Rajendra Tuesday informed that so far 817 licensed weapons have been deposited, 376 persons have been bound/down under the preventive sections of CRPC, 957 non- bailable warrants have been executed, 171 hamlets identified as vulnerable and 143 persons identified as probable source of trouble.   

During the meeting Special DGP Rajendra ,who is also Police Nodal Officer for the State discussed the issue of mobilization and district wise deployment of Central Armed Paramilitary Force (CAPF) and State Armed Police (SAP).

At the outset of the meeting the CEO stated that the state has 9633 polling stations and out of these 4059 have been declared as critical polling booths at 3461 polling Station locations.

Special DGP, J&K stated that the force deployment for the Elections is being made keeping in the view that the Election Commission of India has already extended the time of poll from 7am to 6 pm.

The logistical arrangements for the Para military forces being made in this regard for troops coming from outside for performing election duties in the State were also discussed.

It was further informed that in Lok Sabha elections 2009, 1039 companies of Para military forces were deployed in order to conduct fair and transparent elections.
