200 villagers shifted to safer places in Samba fearing fresh escalation

Fearing fresh escalation of tension between the two neighboring countries at least 200 members of Suchetgarh village in Samba district saturday evening decided to shift to safer places.

The shifting of border villages was necessitated following reports of fresh flare up of tension in the area. The families were advised by the BSF jawans to shift to safer locations in time before it is too late.
The majority of families, however, decided to leave behind one male member of their family to look after the live stock and their valuables and houses.
According to official sources the villagers were camping in the community hall in Samba while about 100 people were staying with their relatives in and around Samba.
